- Theft & loss: A physical card can be stolen from a vehicle or lost. Improper storage of the PIN significantly increases the risk of misuse.
- Internal misuse: The card can be misused to refuel private vehicles or passed on to third parties.
- Delayed fraud detection: Cases of misuse are often only discovered weeks later during invoice verification, by which time significant damage may already have been done.
